A welcome message from the Headteacher

Dear parents, families and visitors

Welcome to Holy Spirit Catholic Primary School.

My name is Matt Byrne, and I am the Headteacher at Holy Spirit Catholic Primary School. We have a friendly environment with a warm atmosphere, seeking achievement and success for our pupils within our caring Catholic ethos.

Our children, staff, governors, children, parents and parish work closely together and we are all really honoured and proud to be part of our Holy Spirit community.

A good way of finding out about life at Holy Spirit is by looking at our 'News - Special Events' page which gives exciting up to date daily news of what the children are achieving in school.

Whilst visiting this site will give you a flavour of our school, the very best way of finding out about us is by visiting. I make it my priority to personally show prospective new parents and families around.  You will get a chance to see the children and staff going about their daily business – mums and dads soon get a positive feel of things - whilst I get a chance to tell them about our vision and further plans for improvement.

We have a highly subsidised breakfast club available to all from 7.45 am for just £1 a day which allows children to come in and settle into the school day early.

We have a newly refurbished library with lots of visiting authors coming our way. Reading is a central theme in 2018/2019 and we have some exciting parental link up ideas including 'Stay and Read' and 'Secret Reader'.

We have some 30 hour nursery place, Wednesday top up sessions and full day options in nursery, a free baby and toddler play group each Monday, whilst we have also overhauled our environment with an impressive new nursery outdoor learning space and sports multi use games area. From September 2018, we have a brand new secure office foyer as we are always keen to make the school site a highly safe environment and a new prayer garden in line with our special Catholic ethos.

Our wonderful pupils' voices are at the heart of what we do. Children get the chance to be play-leaders, reading buddies, equipment monitors, eco green team members and school councillors, whilst we also have librarians, safety champions, bike it crew members and worship warriors! In year 6, children get the opportunity to do a range of helpful tasks around the school, from helping in the office to repairing things with the caretaker as they complete modules as part of their Going for Goals award. we also have a Year 6 Head-boy and Head girl team. Year 2 and Year 6 children graduate from the Holy Spirit University whilst our nursery children love their own graduation service complete with mortar board caps and medals!

Please contact me via the office, phone or e-mail if you would like to take a look around our school. In the meantime, take a look at some of the photos below as a snapshot of Holy Spirit life.

I look forward to seeing you.
