Admissions to Holy Spirit: September 2020

Thank you for considering Holy Spirit for your child's reception class place. If your child is presently in nursery or you are new to the school, please contact me to arrange a visit and a tour around. You will soon pick up on the terrific atmosphere here and the vision of excellence that we've developed.

Admissions to Reception class are organised via Sefton LEA. The online application is now available at from 1st September 2019 to 15th January 2020. Parents who are in contact with the school will be receiving a cover letter from school explaining the procedure. There is also a letter from Sefton which sets out what needs to be done.

If there are more than 30 first choice applications the Archdiocese admissions criteria applies. It is very important that you look at this admissions criteria carefully to see how this applies to your child.

If your child is a Baptised Catholic, this will increase their chances of gaining a place, however there is no certainty that this will guarantee a place.

Having a current place in nursery does not guarantee a place in reception class and a child with no pre-school or who is presently in a private or other nursery setting will secure a place at Holy Spirit ahead of a child currently in our nursery if that child is higher up on the admissions criteria.

Please remember that school does not have any personal say on who is admitted. The admission criteria comes from the Archdiocese and Sefton LEA allocate places using the criteria.

If you would like to discuss this situation, please either contact school.

Many thanks

4.         Other baptised Catholic children.
5.         Other children who have a sibling in the school at the time of admission.

7.         Children of other faiths.  An appropriate Faith Leader would need to confirm in writing that the applicant is a member of their faith group.
8.         Other children.
In the event of any over-subscription in the number of applications made under any of the categories above then the admissions committee will offer places first to children living nearest to the school measured by the shortest walking route from the child’s home to the nearest school gate using the methodology of measurement adopted by the Local Authority.
