Year 6 Summer Term 2018
Welcome back to what is our final and most challenging term of Year 6. This year has sped by and the children will soon be leaving us to face new challenges and adventures in their chosen high schools.
The children have been working hard all year, preparing for their SATs, which will start the week beginning 14th May. All the Year 6 staff are really proud of the effort they made during the recent Easter break: they were set several homework tasks to complete and many of them did this and additional tasks. They all thoroughly deserved their reward at the end of the first week of term - McDonald Happy Meals were very popular! A massive thank you to our parents for making sure that the tasks were done.
We are still running after school Maths clubs on a Monday and Tuesday to help with revision. An additional English revision club is also available on a Thursday. Breakfast Mathletics continues to be popular every morning.
In English we are still reading and basing our written work on the novel 'The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas' which the children are enjoying.
On Friday 27th April Joe Morris, from the Sefton Transition Team, will be coming into class to talk to the children about travelling safely, especially when they start High School.
We will be going swimming again in the second half term. This will be on a Wednesday afternoon at Bootle Baths with the aim that most children will be working towards achieving a National Curriculum certificate.
Thank you for your continued support. As always, please don't hesitate to speak to one of us if you have any worries questions.
