Welcome to Year 6
We Don't Lose, We Either Win or We Learn!
Hello and welcome to the Year 6 Web Page!
Class Teacher: Mrs Chellew
Teaching Assistant: Mrs Moore
Year 6 Intervention Teacher: Miss Jones
We are very excited to welcome the children into Year 6 in, what will be, their final year of primary education. This year has a few important milestones for the children: choosing a high school, completing SAT's and, perhaps most importantly, going on the class residential at the end of the year!
Across the year, we will be looking at the different ways in which we can make ourselves 'high school ready' by developing a growth mindset to our learning. Our motto at the moment is 'we don't lose, we either win or we learn.' We believe in Year 6 that with hard work and the right attitude to our learning we can achieve great things. We are also not afraid to make mistakes as we know that this is what will help us to become successful in our learning.
We begin the year by reading Wonder by A J Palacio. This book has a number of themes and precepts that we feel are important lessons for our children to learn in order to become independent, lifelong learners and responsible citizens in the community.
We value a strong home school partnership and would encourage parents to engage in their child's learning. Homework will be set daily but we would also ask parents to focus on 3 vital areas in the curriculum:
We will be swimming up until Christmas. This will be on a Wednesday afternoon at Bootle Baths with the aim that most children will be working towards achieving a National Curriculum certificate.
Thank you for your continued support. As always, please don't hesitate to speak to one of us if you have any worries questions.
Mrs Chellew, Mrs Moore and Miss Jones.
