Autumn Term 2017
My name is Mrs Hall and I am the Year One classteacher. I would like to welcome both children and parents to Year One. We have a great team of staff to support your children this year with Mrs Durkan, Mrs Foster and Mrs McWilliam. Here, I will try to give you some information about our class routines and about some of the exciting things to come!
Children no longer line up in the morning but come straight into school from 9.45. If parents have any messages just mention them to to the staff on the playground doors and they will relay them back to class. Good attendance and punctuality is vitally important for your child's progress. Please make us aware of any medical issues and provide up to date inhalers as soon as possible. Medical forms must be filled in at the school office. PE is on Thursday afernoon and all children require a PE kit as soon as possible. All children should have a book bag and read at home every night. Book bags can be brought in each day to change books. Reading with your child will ensure they improve their skills and confidence. I will be sending out a newsletter with lots more information shortly.
In Year One this term we will be learning about Ourselves in a Science based topic and welcoming some important visitors into school very soon! As well as working hard in Phonics through our new Read,Write Inc scheme, we will be reading stories, doing lots of writing, learning our numbers and having lots of fun too!
If there is anything else that you would like to know about the class routines don't hesitate to ask any of the Year 1 team.
I will try to put some photos, children's work and information on our class activities on this page throughout the year.
Many thanks for your support.
Have you seen the Kids' Zone? Play games, and visit some cool websites.
28th September - all teddies are invited to our Teddy Bears Picnic tomorrow!!! Teddies must make sure that they're on their very best behaviour and ready for school on Friday!. We will have lots of fun!
SPRING TERM 2018
Welcome back to a new Spring term!
I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and enjoyed our Nativity play 'The Sleepy Shepherd'. The children had a great time reminding us all about the true meaning of Christmas!
This term our new and exciting topic is SPACE! We will be learning about our planet and the solar system linking lots of different subjects such as History, Geography and Science all together. We will be reading lots of Space stories and even some about aliens! We are also hoping to fit in a visit or a trip this term and as soon as I have the details I will let you know.
Please continue to read every night with your child and support them with spellings and homework as this really is very important to your child's progress.
