Summer Term 2017
We have a very busy Summer term ahead in Year One.
In our Science we are finding out about how plants grow and planting our own bean plant to make observations and measurements on its progress. Our Literacy based topic is all about pirates- Ahoy there me hearties!!. We will be sending letters, making posters and writing poems and stories about our favourite pirates!
This term in Year One everyone will be working towards the Phonics screening check in June. The children have been working very hard in their phonics sessions all year in preparation for this national assessment. It would be helpful if parents could take some time to help their children by checking they know their sounds on their sound mats, which will be in their book bags, and to learn spellings for weekly tests given on Friday. All children should also be reading every night and bringing their book bag in each day to change their book.
If there is anything else that you would like to know about the class routines don't hesitate to ask any of the Year 1 team.
Please try and take a look at some of our photographs below. You can see some of the things we have enjoyed doing this year!
