Dear parents, families and visitors
Welcome to Holy Spirit Catholic Primary School.
Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Matt Byrne, and I was appointed Head teacher in April 2014. We have a friendly environment with a warm atmosphere, seeking achievement and success for our pupils within our caring Catholic ethos.
Previously, I had been Assistant Headteacher for 8 years at another Sefton school which had secured 3 consecutive outstanding ofsted grades. I am therefore enjoying the challenge of working with the staff, governors, children, parents and community to bring the very best practice to Holy Spirit.
Last year, Holy Spirit secured an Outstanding grade in our Archdiocesan inspection - a very pleasing result.
Whilst visiting this site will give you a flavour of our school, the very best way of finding out about us is by visiting. I make it my priority to personally show prospective new parents and families around. You will get a chance to see the children and staff going about their daily business – mums and dads soon get a positive feel of things - whilst I get a chance to tell them about our vision and our plans for improvement.
Recent changes include introducing a highly subsidised breakfast club available to all from 7.40 am for just £1 a day. We have a newly refurbished library with lots of visiting authors coming our way. We have some 30 hour nursery place, Wednesday top up sessions and full day options in nursery, a free baby and toddler play group each Monday, whilst we have also overhauled our environment with a brand new nursery outdoor learning space and sports multi use games area.
It is an exciting time of change and improvement with an updated mission statement, a new school crest whilst we launched our fabulous new uniform last year which has proven extremely popular!
Please contact me via the office, phone or e-mail if you would like to take a look around our school. In the meantime, take a look at some of the photos below as a snapshot of Holy Spirit life.
I look forward to seeing you.
