Times of the school day
8.55am - 2.50pm

A very warm welcome to the Reception class of 2017/18! This year we will do everything we can to ensure your child makes a happy and settled start to school life.

We are beginning our half term learning about Halloween, and Bonfire night. We will the be looking at lots of traditional tales and building the children’s library of known stories. We will be looking at The Gingerbread Man, Jack and The Beanstalk, Little Red Riding Hood, The Three Little Pigs and Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We will roughly be covering one per week.

Reminders
Snack money is £1 per week

Dinners are ordered on a three week basis. Dinner menus are sent home on Wednesday and need to be returned by Friday morning.
PE kits should be kept in school - available to buy from PrimaDonna in Marion Square.
Homework will be given out weekly on Fridays. This will increase as the children settle in and will include spellings.
Please read daily with your child and comment in their reading record. Making time for reading 10 minutes a day will have a huge impact on your child's progress.

Funky Fingers
To make our fingers strong and ready for writing we do many activities in school to exercise our finger grip and shoulder strength. Some examples of these are:
Picking up objects with pegs (or tweezers, chopsticks, tongs etc)
Threading beads
Hama beads
Playing with nuts and bolts
Poking pipe cleaners into colanders
Cutting with scissors
We also do dough disco which is very fun! Try it at home using this link https://youtu.be/i-IfzeG1aC4
